The Chicago Pride Parade has seen a significant increase in attendees since 1985. The increase rose steadily every year with a sharp spike after 2010. In 2014, there were approximately 1,000,000 attendees, nearly 10 times the amount in 1985.

The increase in attendees also comes with the increase coverage of the event. What at first was a smaller parade is now an historic event each and every year that invites those from all walks of life to attend. Food, activities, and shows are a staple to the Pride Parade event.

The Pride Parade is not solely in Chicago. Pride Parade events happen all over the country and world, focusing on inclusion and enjoyment of being oneself. Many factors could have contributed to the increase in attendees, but one of the most plausible is the increased acceptance of love for one another. 2010 was not long after President Barak Obama took office, following the long presidency of George H.W. Bush who actively spoke against gay marriage.
